There are no laces, no velcro and they do not have a tight opening that he has to get his foot through to get on (like most slip ons). He cuts off the cloth strap that would go into the buckle. The opening has a flap that goes over to the side to make the opening wider - but seems to stay closed well enough for him to run around and do everything without the buckle.
My problem is... this shoe is no longer being made. It is available in limited quantities on line currently, but sizes are running out.
I have found a red pair in the next size up for school next year... he also wants me to get the size after that for the year after next. He'd probably like me to get every size up until his adult size.
My questions:
Is Soft considering making a shoe?
What shoes do anyone you know who is tactile defensive tolerate?
We are considering making shoes! Probably at the end of our first year. We want to make one very similar to the one you posted--but printing details of different styles of sneakers and dress shoes to make them trendy and appropriate for different occasions.
I would be so happy if you would make shoes! Please consider some girly looking ones. We do the Crocs thing because we have to, but, I'm sorry, they're ugly, and not always appropriate. It would be nice if there was a shoe that my daughter and the rest of us in the family could feel good about
what current work for my NV son is a Hightop Basket or Baseball shoes
the High top Make it hard for children on the ASD to get their shoe off
what you might have to do if your child take the sole out of the shoe
you can glue the sole to the shoe elmers Glue work good for this
let the Glue dry for 24hrs.
my son need shoes he can't take off on the bus or at school
and the inside of the shoes need to be Glue in that the child can take apart and chew on the
inside of the shoes the sol and it cant be Velcro it to easy to undo
I found that my son likes extra wide shoes at the foot for children. It is all about the space for his toes (so they do not rub any seams). I am lucky that socks are not a problem but he likes the same style & brand of stride rite sneaker. The trick was I got several sizes at a time so as he grew I could change them out.
