Quite a lot but I feel your pain (really in my stomach I lost 20 lbs.). It is all about the research & planning. I took a lot of time researching the cheepest places to buy GFCF products. I then took time to find new recipies that are good & filling. Still, it is very expensive. If you are unable to do a complete GFCF diet, I suggeste rotation strategy. Than means limit the gluten & casin but rotate it in slowly to see if there is a difference. For six months I had a strict diet at home. Then I added in dairy until I saw how much he could tolerate. Then tried the same with gluten/wheat. We now eat a modified diet with limited gluten & soy but more relaxed to dairy (less of an effect). We don't eat any processed junk food (crackers, cereal, cake, cookies, ice cream and the like). I have reduced the cost made it better for the family and seen no ill effects on my autistic son. The result is if he gets too much of a bad thing he gets "nutty" so we watch for the behaviors and keep it in check. We are all much happier. If you are stuck with food ideas I have lots of good things to eat and places to go to get them.

ok we tried the gfcf diet. I know you are supposed to try it for like 3 months but it was so expensive and it seemed like they were always hungry. like even after eating they were still starving. i took them to a DAN! doc and he did an allergy test on both of my sons and one is allergic to soy, so if he cant have gluten or casein or soy wtf can he eat besides meat...????

I wanted to add an easy classic childhood food that my son loved.
GF/CF & Soy Free Rice Crispy Treats:
I used GF rice crispies, Palm shortening and marshmallows (kraft). I just followed the directions on the marshmallow bag. It was easy if you don't mind the sugar overload. You would never know the difference.

Just thought I would start this out with a recipe for one of my son's favorite GFCF breakfasts:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups rice flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. xantham gum
1 1/4 cups water
3 Tbs. Vegetable Oil
2 Tbs. Honey
2 egg yolks, beaten
2 large bananas, mashed (or one 6 oz. jar baby bananas
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
2 egg whites

Combine dry ingredients in a medium bowl. Stir in water, oil, honey, egg yolks, bananas and nuts.

Beat egg whites in another bowl, until stiff peaks form. Fold egg whites into batter. Cook pancakes in a hot, oiled griddle or frying pan. Serve with real maple syrup.

Note: Beating the egg whites separately isn't required. You can just put the eggs into the batter without separating them. However, beating the egg whites separately and them folding them in produces a lighter, fluffier pancake.
