I don't know if there are any adults on this one, but perhaps you can help anyway...
When I get touched from behind it makes me really upset, and people don't seem to respect that I don't want them to do this. Especially when I am at the computer. Any ideas on communicating this to others in a simple but effective way?

There are a lot of great resources available on the web;

Try www.sensorycomfort.com. You'll find:

*socks without uncomfortable toe-seams
*headphones that really reduce noise level
*toys to delight the senses
*tactile bath towels
*plus lots more

And don't forget The SPD Foundation for the most up-to-date information about current research, education and advocacy about SPD. www.spdfoundation.net

Here is an interesting article on tactile defensiveness from sensoryprocessingdisorder.com:

http://www.sensory-processing-disorder.com/touch-sensitivity.html

Children and adults with touch sensitivity (tactile defensiveness) struggle fo find clothes that are comfortable. It creates significant problems, especially when school or work dictate you have to wear something other than sweatpants and baggy sweatshirts. School uniforms? Dress shoes? Nylons? Ties? Button up shirts?
