How do sensory disorders affect your life?: It affects us daily. It affects schooling, it affects our emotions, it affects activities...just everything.

About Me:: I'm a mom who has a child that was diagnosed with PDD/NOS a year and a half ago. We knew he had symptoms early and had him take speech therapy and play groups to become more social, etc. All paid for by the state so that is a blessing. Now, he is almost 3 and we are preparing him for special ed classes starting Aug 1st. He will have an OT, an autism specialist, a speech therpist and special ed teacher all work with him, and it's all funded by the DOE, or department of education. We encourage everyone to start intervention early, and to look into programs in your state that can help since therapy can be costly. Our goal is to have our children be in a normal classroom by kindergarden:) Must always have hope. Homeopathic doctors can help too with natural calming meds. AVOID all vaccinations, or at least we did after he was 18 mo. He is milk free as well. Join support groups as soon as you can since that helps the parents coup with worries/stress better.
