Profile Information

How do sensory disorders affect your life?
I am a special education teacher in NYC, and I work with children who have Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder in city preschools, and at home with families. I work with Occupational Therapists, parents, teachers, and most importantly, children, to come up with therapeutic solutions that make inclusion in daily school, family and community life possible, enjoyable, and meaningful.
About Me:
I live in Brooklyn, and am starting a clothing company for children with sensory disorders called SOFT. I love traveling, volunteering in my neighborhood, being involved in the arts and with creative people, and teaching young children.

Knowing Joseph
By Judy Mammay
Brian would give anything to have a normal six-year-old brother — one who doesn’t scream that normal sounds are too loud, or a brother who would play with other kids. Instead, he has Joseph, his autistic brother.
Life with Joseph isn’t easy. Brian constantly finds himself defending Joseph from kids that understand Joseph even less than Brian does. It takes a new friend and a school project before Brian can begin to know Joseph.

Hi ~ It sounds like you are doing so much good for kids with sensory issues. My son was very early and weighed only 1.4 at birth. He is delayed in speech. He is very anxious and says that everything is too loud. Do you have any suggestions about what could help with that? Thank you.

just ask Alex. I will put in for you too. Definitely gets traffic. You remember Lisa Rudy from about.com she did an article on you. I also have a connection with Michele of www.sensory-processing-disorder.com ask if you can be in her next newsletter. It would be great because she has over 3 thousand on her list serve. She is on my site too. Ask Ernie H. He did the blog on us on ning. just join ning network creators. title your page the name of your site. and go to my page and you will find Ernie and ALex thats who you want to contact.
they told me that no one ever volunteers to be on the ning blog and they are always looking for sites to promote. Yours would be terrific!
As for as DIR Schools there aren't many but my husband and I are definitely helping out with the network we made. You already have a youtube video I can post that.
